Show Details Shared Note: - James' first assignment was in Midland TX. About that same time, Lurene decided to quit her job with Shell Chemical and moved to Midland. They met and dated each other for 3 years before getting married. In those early years in Midland, the times were such that by the end of the month everyone was short on funds until pay day. Their close friends got to having a "the last Saturday of the month meal" at one of their homes and everyone would bring what ever was left in the refrigerator. This circle of friends included a young George and Barbara Bush, way before George became President. They were transferred to Albuquerque, NM, got married, and decided to adopt a family. Their children were born in Albuquerque. Being in the oil industry they moved around a lot, which they did usually in the summers to reduce the impact on the kids and school. They eventually settled back in Oklahoma.
