Show Details Shared Note: - Prior to Walter and Eva's marriage, she was living in Pomona, CA; he, in Guthrie, OK. However, they had met many years earlier when both their families lived in Guthrie and Edmond, Oklahoma. In 1919-1920, both Walter and Eva attended the Church of God Bible College; Walter in Kansas City, MO; Eva, in Anderson, IN. Walter heard that she was there, and he sent the first letter that started many years of correspondence between them (1919-1932). For a short time in the mid 1920's, Eva did "Gospel" work in Guthrie and the surrounding area. While there, she and Walter held some church meetings together. He preached, she was in charge of the music and drew artistic illustrations that correlated with the sermons. They were friends at this point in time, but their love blossomed some years later.Their entire courtship was done through the United States Postal Service. After all those years, arrangements were finally made for their wedding. Eva was planning to drive to Guthrie, on her own, but at the last minute her brother John decided to go with her. Her "Dodge" car made it all the way, and on 10 Nov 1932, they arrived in Chandler, OK, where she and Walter were married that same day. They lived in Guthrie, Logan, OK, until Oct 1936 when they and their almost 3-year-old son, Johnnie, moved to Pomona, Los Angeles County, CA. A year later, their daughter, Marjorie was born. Walter and Eva lived the rest of their lives in Pomona.
