In 1676 it was voted, "Due to troublesome times -- King Phillip's War," that the assembly ask the advice of the most judicious inhabitants at their next sitting, including, Benedict Arnold, John Clark, James Barker (II) & 13 others. Received a land grant of what is now Westerly, RI. James II died in 1702.
