George Frances Syfert was born March 23, 1851, and departed this life Nov. 14, 1929, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wayne Kerr, aged 69 years, 7 months and 22 days.
March 12, 1878, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Smith, who preceded him in death August 9, 1913. To this union were born four daughters: Mrs. John Carter of Pierceville, Iowa, Mrs. H. C. Bennett of Lacon, Ill., Mrs. R. C. Stone of Des Moines, and Mrs. Wayne Kerr of Bonaparte.
At an early age he united with the Presbyterian church and remained a faithful christian until he was called to the great beyond;.
The past year of his life he has been in failing health and for three weeks has been confined to his bed at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wayne Kerr, by whom he was tenderly cared for.
Besides his daughters he leaves to mourn nine grandchildren, three sisters: Mrs. Mary Loofborrow of Fairfield, Iowa, Mrs. Sarah Grieves of Tonopah, Nevada, Mrs. Allie Kisling of Stockport, Iowa; and four brothers: Joe and Jim of Mt. Zion, Iowa, Ed of Birmingham, Iowa, and Charles having preceded him in death. He is also survived by his stepmother, Mrs. Mary Syfert.
In his home he was a kind loving husband and father. He had many friends whom he held to great esteem as he seemed to see only the good qualities in a person.
Funeral services were held from the John Kerr residence Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. Coppie in charge.
