William "Bill" Winslow Cox, 91, Pocatello, passed away, Saturday, February 5, 2011 at a local health care facility.

He was born August 11, 1919 in Nevada, Iowa, to Milton James and Velma Grace Winslow Cox. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Des Moines, Iowa in 1938.

Bill married Dorothy Madeline Malloy, September 4, 1938 in Newport, Kentucky. She preceded him in death March 2, 1996.

He served in the Navy from 1942 to 1945. Bill was a master carpenter by trade, specializing in commercial store fixtures, high quality formica work and expert finish wood working. There was not anything he could not make out of wood. He loved to design, remodel, cut, saw, pound and create.

Bill was a member of the Park Avenue Presbyterian Church, Des Moines, Iowa during his young adult and family years. He was also very active in the Bella Vista Community Church, Bella Vista, Arkansas after retirement. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Masons for a short time. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the Carpenters Union.

Bill volunteered and read to children in schools as a Senior Citizen; did a news broadcast for a local TV Station in Bella Vista; participated as an actor and built stage sets for the Bella Vista Community Players. He also volunteered to filled sand bags during flooding times.

Bill is survived by one son, Steven W. Cox, of Des Moines, Iowa; one daughter, Susan I. Glenn, Arco, Idaho; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, J. Pauline Ruble, of Olympia, Washington.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; granddaughter, Renee; sister, Frances; and parents, Velma and Milton.

Memorial Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 12 at 11:00 a.m. at the Baptist Community Church, Arco, Idaho. Cremation has been completed under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello, Idaho. Burial of the cremains will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Arco, Idaho at a later date.
