"David I was a Baptist minister, sometimes referred to as Dr. He preached in several places. From The History of Burlington and Mercer County, NJ, page 49:
'Rev. David Loofbourrow was ordained pastor of the Perberton Baptist Church by Dr. Samuel Jones, March 25, 1781.'"

"One entry on the records of the big Red Stone Church reads, 'The Church of Big Red Stone was constituted May 1, 1791, by Rev. David Loofbourrow.'"

"Rev. David preached in Georges Township, Philip Rogers Farms, riding and carrying his gun. At Mount Masiah Baptist Church he was their fifth pastor in the year 1787. He also preached in Crest Bethal Church, Uniontown, PA, and continued to preach there until Oct 5, 1793, when he resigned to return to NJ. About this time, whether in PA or NJ, he married Katheryn ‏(Catherine)‏Rittenhouse."

William Rittenhouse was a Deacon and Recorder. A list of members received in the Flatwoods Baptist Church Uniontown, PA, 1842 Include David Rittenhouse, James Rittenhouse, James Shank and David Loofbourrow ‏(probably Rev. David's son whom married Jane Shanks.)‏
Rev. David preached in Georges Township, Philip Rogers Farms, riding and carring his gun. At Mount Masiah Baptist Church he was their fifth pastor in the year 1787. About this time either in PA or NJ he married Katheryn Rittenhouse. She was related to David Rittenhouse, the astronomer for whom there is a memorial in Philadelphia. At the time of Katheryn's marriage this David was taking an active part in politics. He was a Jefferson Rebublican. The Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia was named for this family.
Rev. David served in the Revolutionary War. According to the Bureau of pensions he enlisted as a private in June 1776 for six months under Captain Sealy, Col. Martin's regiment, New Jersey Troops. At the end of that period he re-enlisted for three months under Captain Seward and again for three months under Captain Cook. ‏(this seems to have been a common procedure as it gave the young soldiers a chance to go home and help with the farm work.)‏
He enlisted also in Morris County and took part in the battle of Long Island, Scotch Plains and others. He was living in Fayette Colony, PA when he applied for a pension 26 October 1832. He died in 1846 at the age of 91, the last pension being acknowledged by David Loofbourrow Jr. who was the administrator of his estate. He is buried in Springhill Township, Fayette Colony PA.
