Obituary: Kinston, AL Scot Watkins age 45, of Kinston passed away Thursday July 24, 2014. He was born Mattoon, IL, on September 30, 1945 to Richard and Janette Sanders Watkins. Scot worked as an energy consultant in the field of conserving electricity in residential and commercial buildings. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent hundreds of hours in the lakes, ponds, fields and woods in our area chasing whitetail deer and fishing for largemouth bass. Scot was often found on the highways south Alabama and northwest Florida riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. His biggest legacy, however, is the immeasurable mark he left on his children and family. He will forever hold a dear and precious place in each of their hearts. Scot was preceded in death by father, Richard Watkins. He is survived by sons, Greg Watkins of Tyler, TX, Zachery Watkins of Mattoon, IL, daughter, Emeree Watkins of Mattoon, IL, mother and stepfather, Janette and Orville Merrill of Strasburg IL, sisters, Christy Chancey and husband Chris of Kinston, Jill Baker and husband Stan of Mason, IL, Hailey Watkins and Chelsea Watkins both of Mattoon, IL, brother, Shawn Watkins of Florala. Scot is also survived by abundance of extended love ones including numerous nieces and nephews. Services for Scot Watkins will be 2PM Monday July 28, 2014 from Evans Funeral Home (Florala, AL) with Rodger Mims officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour before services.
