Robert William Winslow, 58, died Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Burlington Hospital.
The son of William Corwin and Elizabeth Jane Barker Winslow, he was born in Keosauqua on May 25, 1908. He was a graduate of Keosauqua High School. He married Vale Roberts on April 1, 1930, at Bonaparte. She survives.
He was a resident of Keosauqua until 1930, when he moved to Bonaparte. A former newspaper man he operated the Keosauqua Republican. He was in the newspaper business with his father-in-law, A.G. Roberts, in Bonaparte until 1947 when he and Bill Kerr bought the newspaper. Winslow sold the paper to Kerr on June 1, 1954. Prior to his death he was owner and operator of a Bonaparte variety store.
He was a member of Bonaparte Presbyterian Church and IOOF and was a township trustee.
Survivors include one daughter, Ann McIntire of Belle Plaine; two brothers, Dr. E.J. Winslow of Davenport and Lloyd D. Winslow of Des Moines; and two sisters, Mable Muckler of Lakewood, Calif., and Gertrude O'Rourke of Woodstock, Ill.
Services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Bonaparte Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Denley Ganfield officiating. Burial will be in Vale Cemtery, northeast of Bonaparte. ... "
