All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) is the first major anti-war film of the sound era, faithfully based upon the timeless, best-selling 1929 novel by Erich Maria Remarque (who had experienced the war first-hand as a young German soldier). The film was advertised with the brooding face of one of the young German recruits sent into World War I. The landmark, epic film, made on a large-scale budget of $1.25 million for Universal Pictures (and studio production head Carl Laemmle, Jr.), used acres of California ranch land for the battle scenes, and employed over 2,000 extras.

About 1943, when Wm. was widowed and he was about 61 years old, he married "Betty" who was about 21. Betty was possibly married prior to her marriage to William. This was told to me by Russell Harold Kinnaman, that she was married to someone (unknown name) when she and William met. MHK Possibly they were married in Orange County, Florida in 1943. Ancestry Florida Marriage Collection, 1822-1975, pg. 165, lists an Elizabeth May Cutright, on another page, a William *Harold Kinnaman; both marriages in 1943 in Orange County, FL.
*Although, William's middle name was Lawrence, not Harold. William's son, Russell's middle name is Harold. Needs further research for documentation.
William is buried in Section 14 Site 5220 at the Danville National Cemetery, IL.
