Shared Note: - (Research):Donald L. Kisling Obituary: Donald L. Kisling, 79, of rural Keosauqua died at 2:10 P.M. Wednesday January 13, 2016 at Jefferson County Health Center, Fairfield.
He was born June 30, 1936 in rural Stockport to Boyd L. and Ruth Marie Brown Kisling and married Karen L. Askew June 30, 1957 in Stockport Methodist Church. Don graduated from Stockport High School and Iowa State University.
He taught agricultural education in Paton, IA High School and farmed in the Stockport, Birmingham and Keosauqua areas.
He was a member of Stockport United Methodist Church and currently attended First Presbyterian Church, Fairfield and was active in many local organizations including Stockport Lions Club, Federal Land Bank Assn. and Soil Conservation Service.
Don entered the Iowa Army National Guard while still in high school and served 20 years in the Guard. His specialties were fixed wing and rotary aircraft as a pilot and mechanic, retiring as a Major and Company Commander.
Surviving are his wife, Karen, two daughters, Renee Tupper (Doug) of Urbandale and Melody Rich (Kyle) of Sumner, two sons, Russell Kisling (Jean) of Marietta, GA and Brian Kisling (Lisa) of Pella, 12 grandchildren, a sister Rita McCoy (Hugh) of Peoria, AZ, two brothers, Norman Kisling (Jane) of Stockport and Randy Kisling (Karen) of Keosauqua, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Lawson.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday January 18, 2016 in First Presbyterian Church, Fairfield with Rev. Joseph Phipps and Pastor Larry Smith officiating. Burial will be in Miller Chapel Cemetery, northeast of Keosauqua.
Memorials to Stockport United Methodist Church or First Presbyterian Church, Fairfield may be left at the funeral home.
A lunch and social time for family and freinds will be at noon Monday January 18, 2016 prior to the service at the First Presbyterian Church Dinning Room, Fairfield.
