She was born February 14, 1922 in Van Buren County to Rex and Iva Wallingford Hooper.

Dorothy married Roger N. Carter on June 3, 1939 in Fairfield. He died November 23, 1987.

Dorothy grew up and attended school in Van Buren County. In her married years she had lived in Van Buren, Jefferson and Henry Counties and most recently in Hillsboro and Mt. Pleasant. When her boys were younger she enjoyed playing cards and camping. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, gardening and coffee with friends.

Surviving are three sons, Gary Carter ‏(Marlene)‏ of Mt. Pleasant, Gene Carter ‏(Linda)‏ and Gale Carter ‏(Marie)‏ all of Hillsboro, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, other realitives and many friends

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by an infant son, Roger Jr., two brothers, Harry and Leo Hooper and a grandson, Tim Carter

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday September 20, 2016 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with Pastor Bryan Katchay officiating.
Visitation with family will be from 10-11 A.M. Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Miller Chapel Cemetery, Northeast of Keosauqua.
