Dills, History of Fayette County, Together With Historic Notes on the Northwest and The State of Ohio (Odell & Mayer, Publishers, Dayton Ohio, 1881), Page 570: "Mr. Loofbourrow died on February 3, 1852. He was born in Fayette Co., Penn. Came to Ohio in 1811 and commenced the practice of law. He had been a resident of the place for more than forty one years, and was prominently identified with the early history of the county. He was editor of Genius of Liberty a Democratic organization. The publication of which was commenced in 1834. He is spoken of, when in the prime of life as having ranked among the great men of the state, and was known as one of the ablest lawyers of Ohio."
