Oscar William ‏(Bill)‏ Worthwine
Oscar William Worthwine Jr., 86, of Pinellas Park, Fla., passed away of natural causes Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003. Oscar was born Dec. 30, 1916, in Boise, to Oscar Sr. and Zola Worthwine. He went to schools in Boise, graduated from Boise High School in 1935, and was active in the ROTC. He served in the Idaho National Guard and later in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He graduated from Curtiss Wright Technical Institute in Glendale, Calif., in 1939 and from Armstrong College in Berkeley, Calif., in 1951. Oscar married Dorothy Cutting of Weiser in 1952. He worked several years as a procurement specialist for the Air Force and was stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base and other bases throughout the country. After leaving civil service in 1963, he worked in the aerospace industry in Southern California until his retirement in 1975. He and Dorothy moved to Florida in 1980 to be close to family and warm weather. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; brother, John Worthwine; sister, Donna Jane McDowell. He is survived by his daughter, Anne Anderson of Safety Harbor, Fla.; his son, Will Worthwine of Boise; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A private family ceremony will be held at a future date. Memorial contributions may be sent to The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast, 300 E. Bay Drive, Largo, FL 33770.
