When Albert Hockaday and Bessie married, her 4 children became Albert's step-children. These were his only children; he had no biological children. See 1920 Census, Hayden, Routt, CO.

SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. BESSIE CARNES
Mrs. Bessie Carnes* passed away Thursday, November 6, at the home of her daughter at Fort Morgan, Colorado. She had been ill for several months.
Mrs. Carnes was born May 13, 1878 in Nevada, Missouri. She is survived by one son, Louis Githens of Denver, Colorado, three daughters, Mrs. Josephine Gimer of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. Virginia Parks of Holyoke, Colorado, and Mrs. Mary Baker of Fort Morgan, Colorado, one brother, Carey Bryan of Bakersfield, California, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Walker of Filmore, Missouri and 13 grandchildren.
Mrs. Carnes was a member of the Dunkard Church.
Services were held at the Lewis Funeral Home Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
