He was born in Quincy, Il. to Kenneth Raymond and Grace Martin Loofbourrow. He married Marilyn Jean Meyer on Feb. 7, 1953. She preceded him in death on July 6, 2000.

He is survived by a son, Galen ‏(Ann)‏ of Prospect, Ky.; daughter, Julia Guth ‏(David)‏ of Urbana; sister, Joyce Fisher ‏(Fredrick)‏ of Rockford; sister, Jerilyn Gadberry ‏(Bruce)‏ of Schaumburg and five grandchildren, Kent Osgood Loofbourrow, Megan Jean Loofbourrow, Kimberly May Loofbourrow, William Christopher Guth and Colin David Guth.

He served in the 32nd Signal Battalion of V Corps in Darmstadt, Germany during the Korean War.
