Shared Note: - Samuel was the owner of the old "Loofbourrow" house and farm property as of 12 of Apr 1934; although it was occupied by the Allen Carter family. James S. and Mary C. Syfert Loofbourrow moved to Fairfield, IA from here in 1904. It is unknown as to whether or not they sold it to him at that time, or at a later date. However, according to the newspaper article Birmingham Enterprise dated 12 Apr 1934, p.1 col.4, "The dwelling on what is known as the Sam Smutz farm and occupied by the Allen Carter family, was entirely destroyed by fire last Monday afternoon. Part of the contents were saved. The Stockport fire department went to the scene of the fire and succeeded in saving some of the farm buildings." (Thanks to Ramona Carter Clark for sharing this information 27 Jun 2005. She is the daughter of Allen Carter, and she was born at this house.) Samuel Smutz is the younger brother of Mary Elizabeth Smutz Syfert, 2nd wife of Benjamin Franklin Syfert, Mary Catherine Syfert Loofbourrow's father. Therefore, Mary Elizabeth was Mary Catherine's stepmother, and Samuel, her step uncle. 3-19-09 MHK
