Richard Wayne Day was born on June 1, 1935 in Pasadena California. His parents were Royal Day and Floris Torgerson. He graduated from Pasadena City College before earning his degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California Berkeley in 1958.
Richard Day lived a life defined by warmth, intelligence, and unwavering devotion to his family. Known by those close to him as a steady anchor in the smartest man in the room, Richard brought a reassuring presence and bright energy into every space he entered.
Throughout his life, he led by example – offering thoughtful guidance, sharp wisdom, and a generous sense of humor that lifted those around him. His sharp mind was matched only by his capacity to care deeply for others, making him both a trusted confident and cornerstone for his loved ones.
Richard’s lasting legacy is captured in the love he shared, the lessons he passed down, and the countless good memories held by his family and friends. He is remembered not with lingering sadness, but with deep gratitude for a life truly well spent.
Richard is survived by his sons Robert Elliott Day, Steven Richard Day, and his grandchildren Elle A. Day, and Lucas Anagua Day, and his wife Jinx Langmak.
A celebration of Richard’s life was held at the Laguna Presbyterian Church, on August 15th, 2026 in Laguna Beach. Attended by family, friends, fellow bible study members, and others of the church.
