Samuel “Sam” Agnew was born about 1934 in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, UK. He lived his entire life, until recently, at the old Agnew farm at Ballynarry, Ballyclare, County Antrim, where at least 4 generations of his ancestors lived before him.
Sam passed away 2nd January 2023 peacefully at Carrickfergus Manor Care Home, Carrickfergus, County Antrim.
Sam inherited the farm from his father as he was the only son with 5 sisters. He never married and had no children. He was a sheep farmer, and he won many trophies and ribbons for his prize winning sheep.
His parents, Samuel and Janette (Clements) Agnew predeceased him. Sam was a beloved brother to Maimie and the late Nance, Martha, Willa and Anne.
He will be loved and remembered always by his sister Maimie, brother-in-law Peter, nephews, nieces and their families, and also, by his many cousins both in Northern Ireland and in the United States.
“The day Thou gavest Lord is ended.”
A service of thanksgiving for Sam’s life was held in Raloo Presbyterian Church on Friday 6th January 2023 at 12.00 p.m. and afterwards to the adjoining graveyard.
